G.A.U.S.S. Srl forms part of the consortium created to undertake the IODISPlay projectwithin the European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, thanks to its expertise as a space launcher.

IODISPlay project (that stands for IOD/IOV Service Mission Portfolio) is funded by the European Commission to identify a repertory of IOD/IOV missions.

The company, G.A.U.S.S., collaborates to this project with GMV Aerospace and Defence (GMV, Coordinator, Spain), Instituto Nacional de Tecnica Aerospacial (INTA, Spain) and Valdini, Vicari & Associati (VVA, Italy).

The project aims at assessing the current European IOD/IOV needs and capabilities from the points of view of technology, carriers and launchers, as well as its service market, identifying a portfolio of In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD) for possible missions, while creating a IOD Missionization Tool (a database of carriers and technologies suitable for potential missions). The purpose of surveying the European space field is to pinpoint the most favorable technologies developed for space and the commercial applications of innovative space products. Potentially feasible missions, within the H2020 timeframe, once identified by IODISPLay will be proposed to the European Commission (just at the programmatic level, any possible follow up goes beyond this project).

The project life span is January 2015/June 2016.

Considering G.A.U.S.S.’ knowledge of the launcher segment its main task in this project is to carry out an analysis of existing and new launch possibilities for IOD and IOV technologies (In orbit demonstration/In orbit validation), while also investigating what elements of the launcher can be modified in order to host a technology.

It is a relevant opportunity to be active in the European space sector, in a perspective of growth and innovation.

More information on this project can be found on the IODISPlay website.
